Per Doug McWard (Past Exalted Ruler + Health Chairman), “Our annual Pete Maculek Health Fair & Blood Drive was help on Saturday, November 2, 2024. We had a post COVID pandemic record of appointments made, 28 . We collected 19 whole blood samples and 4 double reds. We also had 7 deferrals, those who showed up to give blood but were unable due to a variety of factors. As a result, our donations are able to 69 patients. We also had SMS Healthcare present performing cholesterol, blood, glucose and blood pressure screenings. Per Health and Wellness Chairman Doug McWard (PER), “Our second Blood Drive and Health Fair of 2023 was held Saturday November 11th from 9:00am to 1:00pm in the Hall of America. SMS surprised us and showed up to do the health fair portion of the blood drive. We collected 17 whole blood units and 10 double red units.”Per Health and Wellness Chairman Doug McWard (PER), “Our first Blood Drive and Health Fair of 2023 was held Saturday November April 22nd from 9:00am to 1:00pm in the Hall of America. Twenty-one (21) people showed up to donate and of those, seventeen (17) people were able to donate. Thirteen (13) of the donors were from Saint Louis #9, one (1) donor was from Florissant Elks Lodge #2316, and we had three (3) walk-ins/non-members. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, November 4, 2023, for the next Pete Makulec Memorial Blood Drive and Health Fair.”

Our Spring Blood Drive, with Impact Life as a Sponsor, netted 22 pints.Our next Blood Drive is Saturday November 5th from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The Saturday November 6, 2021, Blood Drive & Health Fair wrap up: 25 single + 5 ‘double reds’ = 35 collected! Once processed, each unit collected translates to 3x the total for nearly 100 units of life saving blood-product (blood, platelets, plasma)!!! Well done #9, very well done!! Weather, holidays or tragic events can impact blood inventories. Every day, patients who need blood are in crisis and you can help by volunteering to donate. Less than 10% of the population gives blood, so donors that give on a regular basis are important to meet these needs.
